Recent presidential executive orders have changed policies that have created a current border crisis at our southern border. We are currently experiencing between 4,500 and 6,000 illegal entries a day. Jeh Johnson, former President Barack Obama’s Department of Homeland Security secretary, previously said 1,000 daily apprehensions overwhelm the system.

But is this even a problem? Isn’t open borders just the right thing to do? Aren’t we are a nation of immigrants? Aren’t we “open to receive not only the opulent and respectable stranger, but the oppressed and persecuted of all nations and religions” as George Washington said?

This is a good article with some good points with a few exceptions. First, the Statue of Liberty does say give me all your illegal immigrants. Next, this is not a nation of immigrants. Forty million Black Americans in this country whose ancestors came here in leg irons and chains do not fit the definition of immigrants. This country cannot absorb all the worlds' poor not even the 20 million central Americans who have the intention of coming to this country illegally. Sixty-two countries have some kind of physical barrier. If you have no borders you have no country. We can help these countries by encouraging them to control their mass populations which will also help with our climate problems
