Years ago, my mother kept a small flock of chickens. They were to “lay” eggs, hatch new chicks and keep the yard free of bugs and worms.

One day she realized there was one chicken who was being persecuted by one other chicken. Days later, about 3 or 4 were persecuting this same chicken, and even later, there were many like that and it became a game! This “good” chicken continued to lay her eggs, clean up the yard and taking all the abuse!

After awhile my mother got tired of it, and several “troublemakers” lost their heads and went into the stew pot or oven for Sunday dinners.
