Please mark your calendars to join us at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for the Community Thanksgiving meal and service on Monday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. sponsored by the Nacogdoches Ministerial Alliance. Everyone is invited. A multi church choir will perform, clergy from several denominations will lead the service. Donations taken that evening all benefit Love In the Name of Christ. Volunteers interested in helping to deliver ready to eat Thanksgiving meals that day to shut-ins are asked to please show up at Sacred Heart at 2 p.m. Volunteers will be given several meals and a specific route to follow for delivery.

If you want to help provide a Thanksgiving meal for a needy family to prepare in their home, you can make a donation of $35.95 to Love INC. Funds will be used to purchase pre-made, ready to heat, boxed dinners. You can also donate non-perishable canned goods, canned hams, and other appropriate Thanksgiving items and we will prepare boxes to give to pre-approved families. Canned goods and other non-perishable items can be dropped off at Love INC during business hours, Monday through Thursday from 9 to 4:30. Suggestions other than canned goods include cereal, peanut butter, crackers, dressing mix, cranberry sauce, and individually packaged items.

Christmas Shared Blessings is just around the corner. We welcome your monetary, toy, and volunteer time donations. The families we serve are carefully chosen throughout the year. We try to focus on the working poor, encouraging parents to pay their rent and utilities and let us relieve some of the stress over providing Christmas for their children. Volunteers can sign up to help us set up on Dec. 10, or to work in specific two hour shifts to shop with families on Dec. 11.

We serve children ages birth to twelve years of age. We prepare the Nacogdoches County Civic Center with tables of donated gifts sorted by age and gender. Parents come and ‘shop’ for gifts for their children. We help with a Shoe Drive at Back to School, but by this time of the year many children have outgrown their shoes. Shoes, pajamas, and hoodies for ages birth to 12 years are much needed and appreciated as choices either in addition or instead of toys.

We also accept new and gently used items for a ‘Parents’ Table’. Extra Christmas decorations, home decor items, purses, blankets, jewelry, and other items you may have to share are most appreciated. These items are sometimes the only gifts that some of the parents receive. We want to provide a way for parents to wrap their child’s gift. We are accepting donations of gift bags, rolls of Christmas wrapping paper, and clear adhesive tape.

On another note, tickets are on Sale NOW for our Annual Fundraiser, CHAIRished Blessings scheduled for Feb. 7. Tickets available at Love INC office, at Kingdom Gifts Store, and online at www.loveincnac.org. We also would like to invite you to partner with us with a Silent Auction or Live Auction donation/contribution, if you so desire. We would like to promote your company name and your patronage in our pre-CHAIRished Blessings advertising, our Social Media pages, and possibly the night of the event with your permission. It is by the generosity of our patrons that we are able to provide goods and services to our clients.

If you have not done so before and are interested, you can sign up to make a basket, provide a dessert, donate a Silent Auction item or Live Auction item online at www.loveincnac.org. We will reach out to local restaurants and vendors to help us with the meal again this year. We appreciate the community response, enthusiasm, support, and involvement in our annual fundraiser. All proceeds benefit the ministries of Love In the Name of Christ of Nacogdoches.
