A log truck driver from Center was killed Tuesday and a pickup driver was injured on Hwy. 103 about four and a half miles east of Etoile.
Kenedy Edwards, 54, of Center, was killed after a Ford truck “made an unsafe turn in front” of his Kentworth semi-truck, which struck the driver’s side of the Ford and then hit a tree, Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. David Hendry said in a press release.
Edwards was traveling west hauling timber and the 2004 Ford pickup was also traveling west in front of the log truck before making the turn, Hendry said. Edwards was pronounced dead by a Nacogdoches County justice of the peace.
The driver of the Ford was transported to a hospital in Lufkin by helicopter and later transferred to a hospital in Bryan for additional treatment.
“The identity of the driver is not immediately available at this time,” Hendry said.
