This time next Sunday, Chairished Blessings will be in the books. But you still have time before the event on Feb. 7 to make plans to join us. We hope that you have your tickets and are looking forward to joining us that evening as much as we are looking forward to seeing and visiting with you. Months of preparation and dedication from volunteers throughout the community make this fundraiser possible. In preparation this last week, we are sorting, packing, meeting, printing, cooking and decorating to insure that you enjoy your time at the fundraiser. Tickets are still available at the Love INC office, call (936) 569-8555, visit www.loveincnac.org or buy tickets at the Kingdom Gifts Resale Shoppe. We are thrilled that Nacogdoches’ own Jeff Davis will be our emcee for the evening; providing a fresh and entertaining energy to the event.

Love INC Nacogdoches is celebrating 20 years of service to the community and will recognize the original board members during the Chairished Blessings event. We want to thank Mr. Don Alexander, Mr. Rayford Allen, Mrs. Kathleen Belanger, Mrs. Irma Brown, Mr. Keith Drewery, Mr. Thad Floyd, Rev. Richard Harris, Rev. Terry Hodge, Dr. Rick Hurst, Mrs. Dott Martin, Mrs. Clarice Miller, Mr. Joel Moore, Mrs. Sandra Patterson, Mr. Randy Price, Mrs. Carrie Scarbrough, Rev. Sonny Scarbrough, Rev. James Sparks, and Dr. Roger Van Horn. Because of their vision, we have the opportunity to carry this vision forward. (Articles of Incorporation Signee)

Even while planning the fundraiser, we continue to take care of the day to day operations and processes of Love INC. We answer the phone, process applications and go out on home visits. This week we had four home visits, and want to share two of them with you. Both of these families need an entire household of furniture and household items. Both of the situations are valid. One family recently moved back to the Nacogdoches area to be nearer to family members and an existing family support network. These folks are pooling resources with other family members to move into an older family home that needs some minor repairs. At this time they are asking for beds, bedroom furniture, living room furniture, and a kitchen table. They are currently sleeping on pallets on the floor, with inadequate supplies to stay warm and comfortable. We plan to serve this need.

Another family recently moved and left their furniture and belongings behind because the prior residence was infested with vermin. Their furniture and household items were damaged and they did not want to transfer anything to their new location. This is a single mother of six, with two disabled children. They are asking for clothing, and furniture to replace the items they left behind. They would be grateful for anything as their new residence is practically empty. They are hesitant and humbled to ask for the help. This young mother is hard working, motivated and dedicated to success. The only help the family requested over the past several years was for Back to School and/or Christmas Shared Blessings. Other than that, this young mother is self-sufficient.

Meeting both of these larger requests will deplete the warehouse of some of the generous donations we receive from the community. If you have gently used furniture and household items that can be shared with another family, we encourage you to consider donating to Love INC Nacogdoches. We accept donations during regular business hours, Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We also can make arrangements to pick up donations now that we are back up to staff with the answered prayer of our new Warehouse Outreach Coordinator.

We strive to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and serve individuals and families in need. We represent churches that want to journey with people while they work toward self-sufficiency. We want to show LOVE through building relationships, and furthering Christ’s kingdom. One call to Love INC will direct people to our application process. Love INC is a place where help awaits; whether through Love INC or a local church. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7: 7-8

Other validated requests are for:

■ Twin size frames, box springs and mattresses

■ Full and Queen size frames, box springs, and mattresses

■ Plastic drawer storage units

■ Small dining tables

■ Silverware and Kitchen Utensils
