The Ladyjacks dropped games to Missouri State, 7-0, and No. 22 Mississippi State, 4-2, on Sunday, before being blanked by Missouri State, 4-0, on Monday and falling to Southern Illinois, 5-4, in the final game of the two-day tourney.

SUNDAY’S GAMES

Missouri State 7, SFA 0 — The Ladyjacks got off to a strong start against Missouri State in the opener, finding themselves trailing by just a solitary unearned run through three innings. The Bears then opened up the lead in the later innings, adding solo runs in the fourth and fifth innings and a pair of runs in the sixth.

A final run was pushed across the plate in the seventh frame to bring about the final margin.

Alex Hedspeth went 2-for-4 at the plate on the day, while Shaylon Govan notched a total of three walks on the day, Kassidy Wilbur went the distance in the circle for the Ladyjacks, racking up eight strikeouts across seven innings.

#22 Mississippi State 4, SFA 2 — In the afternoon matinee, the Ladyjacks conceded a second-inning run to the Bulldogs, before pushing a run across in the fourth inning to tie up the contest. Mississippi State would find three more runs in the sixth inning off Shaylon Govan, making her first career start in the circle, to create a 4-1 lead. Bryana Novegil’s RBI groundout in the seventh trimmed the lead to two runs, but the Ladyjacks rally came up short.
