The first of the year is always a time for new beginnings. I am thankful for the time to rest during the holidays, as resting my mind, body and soul is necessary for renewal.

It is also a time to reflect over the previous year and pray for direction from Christ Jesus. By the time the end of the year arrives, I feel like I have been in charge so much that I need reminding that God is in control.

I am only His vessel. I have a great sense of peace when I accept that I do not have to make all decisions. Daily and hourly I talk to our Father.

I am beginning my 12th year as the executive director of Love INC Nacogdoches. I am humbled that God has allowed me to serve Him in this capacity. He has provided so many people to serve alongside me and again I am grateful.

This community is truly such a giving community, and I am fortunate to be a part of God’s business in Nacogdoches, Texas. I want to meet more of you.

Every year I hope to see more of God’s people stop by our annual Open House. Please share with your church to stop by the Love INC office on Jan. 27. It is a come and go reception from noon to 3 p.m. at our office at 917 Ruby St.

The purpose is to meet and visit with as many church members as possible. We will have refreshments and information for you to take back and share with your church membership. Our staff and some volunteers will be on hand to visit and provide tours of our facility. We hope that you can join us. If you have any questions, please contact

My Lord and Savior, what do you have for me to do? I ask You to guide me as I serve You through Love INC Nacogdoches. Please, Father, burden the hearts of Your people to serve those who need to know You. The needs are great as our neighbors need food, clothes, and items to make life better for them. However, the greatest need is for lost people to see You in those of us who claim to serve You. Thank you, God, for Your grace and love for each one of us. Amen.

Case management: Many times we have the privilege to serve folks we have served in the past. Sometimes we haven’t heard from these folks in a couple of years. We visited two families today who we had served several years ago. One lady suffers from mental illness and from time to time she needs help. Today our home team found her in an apartment with only a mattress in the living room. She lives on disability income and usually gets along fine. She has had a difficult time lately and went through the process to apply for furniture and household items. She knows the Lord and has a home church as well. This is a simple yet a very important role Love INC plays in the lives of our neighbors. We were able to serve her through Love INC’s Warehouse Ministry to meet her needs. Another client we served today has a severe disability and we are able to assist this family with winter clothes, food and some needed furniture. A new family member has moved in to help with the situation. It is a blessing when Love INC is able to provide much needed resources for families during times of need and crisis. Most importantly our volunteers offer prayer and let them know they are loved. We continue to strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Volunteers: Love INC exists to serve our local churches. Churches are all of YOU, not a physical building. Visit our open house on Jan. 27 and find out more about how you can plug in to serve others in our community. Please go on our website at and fill out a volunteer application. Send our volunteer coordinator an email at

Warehouse: Muscle, muscle and more muscle is needed. We continue to look for strong volunteers who are able to lift and carry heavy furniture. If you can and want to work, sort and deliver to clients as well as pick up donations from donors who want to donate to our Warehouse Ministry, please give us a call. If you are interested, fill out a volunteer application online at or call Debbie at 936-569-8555.

Fundraiser: Tickets are selling fast. I am so thankful for those of you who have purchased your tables already. We have a couple of surprises I will let you in on. Tomé Catering is providing the food and it will be wonderful. Also, there will be some great music entertainment. The CHAIRished Blessings Fundraiser is Feb. 11 at the Nacogdoches Civic Center from 6-10 p.m. We are selling tickets and tables. Tickets are available online at or at our office at 917 Ruby St. Buy your ticket now to get the “early-bird” pricing. This is the last week for the early bird price. For individual tickets it is $50. Tables are $400. Go online to now and purchase your table or tickets.

Using our post office box is the safer and most secure way to send us a check. P.O. Box 630423, Nacogdoches, Texas 75963.

Another very secure way is by PayPal on our website It is also helpful for you to designate your gifts. Writing on the memo line will designate your wishes. Write: “wherever needed most” will allow us to decide. This is just helpful to us, not required.
