Some students at flood-damaged McMichael Middle School will continue at-home virtual classes though Wednesday, Nacogdoches ISD officials announced Monday afternoon.

Sixth graders at the middle school will continue virtual instruction while seventh and eighth grade students will attend in-person class.

The school suffered flood damage during intense thunderstorms Thursday and Friday that knocked out power to nearly 1,000 homes and businesses around the county.

McMichael closed Friday, as did schools in Woden and Chireno.

About two dozen county roads were affected by high water, and parts of Hwy. 21 East and Hwy. 7 west of Nacogdoches were impassable after the storm.
