Nacogdoches Dragon Baseball

Nacogdoches third baseman Levi Stovall gets set to field a ground ball during action earlier this week against Lufkin at Morris Frank Park. The Dragons dropped a 1-0 decision at home to the Panthers Friday night and will now get set for the Class 5A playoffs.

It wasn’t the momentum-builder that the Nacogdoches Dragons had hoped for heading into the Class 5A postseason, but after dropping a pair of one-run decisions to rival Lufkin before heading into the playoffs this week, it could give the Dragons a chip on their shoulder and determination to claim some unfinished business.

Nacogdoches has lost six games in District 16-5A play, with five of them coming by one run — and the sixth by just two runs — and will represent District 16-5A as the third-place team with a 9-6 league mark. They can expect more close games in the playoffs, so possibly the tough district slate will pay off.
