In a game when the offense wasn't clicking and the defense had trouble tackling, the Stephen F. Austin special teams and long passing games took center stage as the Lumberjacks won their second straight victory and knocked NCAA Division II Angelo State (1-1) from the unbeaten ranks with a 31-12 victory at Homer Bryce Stadium Saturday evening.

Xavier Gipson, who was named to the HERO Sports Freshman All-American list a year ago, along with being named Preseason All-Southland Conference as both a receiver and a kick returner this summer, showed why he earned those accolades. He caught five passes for a career high 177 yards, including scores of 90 and 76 yards. He also returned a punt 37 yards for a score to lead the 'Jacks to the win.
