NEW SUMMERFIELD — Playoff games take place so teams who might not have much of a chance to win get their shot at the upset. The Hawkins Hawks gave No. 21-ranked Douglass a scare for most of the evening here in the New Summerfield Coliseum Monday night, but the Indians fought and clawed their way to a 62-57 Class 2A Region III Bi-District win to move to round two.

Hawkins (10-11) had one of its hottest shooting games of the year, hitting 55.6% (20-of-36) from the field and a blistering 61.5% (8-of-13) behind the three-point arc, and it was almost enough to squeak past Douglass (24-3).
