HUDSON — Getting off to a fast start in any best-of-three high school baseball series creates a distinct advantage. On Thursday night, the Douglass Indians (18-14) received a gift from the Joaquin Rams (17-14-1) and scored 12 unearned runs on 10 JHS errors en route to a 12-5 victory at Gipson Field in Game 1 of the Class 2A Region III Area series.

The squads return to Hudson for Game 2 of the series Friday, May 13, at 7 p.m. A third game, if necessary, will be played Saturday at 12-noon in Hudson.
