The Cardinals and Pirates, two of the top teams in the Nacogdoches Boys Youth Baseball Association 14U Division, were making up a missed game earlier in the year, so the coaches decided to play a nine-inning contest instead of a regular five-inning affair.

Friday’s three-hour, eight-minute marathon featured 21 runs, 40 stolen bases, 17 walks, six hit batters and nine different pitchers, as the Cardinals came from behind and then held off the Pirates, 11-10, at Lions Field at the Nacogdoches Baseball Complex.
