RUSK — A miracle fourth quarter comeback attempt for the Chireno Lady Owls fell just short as they dropped a 53-50 decision to the Neches Lady Tigers, ending Chireno’s quest for a second-straight trip to the UIL Class 1A State Championship, as they bowed out in the 1A Region IV Championship game.

Neches opened up the final stanza with an 8-1 run in the opening three minutes to build a 47-34 lead. However, the full-court press implemented by the Lady Owls held the Lady Tigers scoreless for the following four minutes and forced them into four turnovers in that time.
