In this 2019 file photo, Cushing head football coach Josh Moore gives direction to his team during an organized practice. The UIL is allowing Texas high school athletes to begin summer workouts on Monday, June. 8.

It’s been a long wait for high school coaches and student-athletes, but the time is near for players to get back on the fields and begin practicing.

According to a release by the University Interscholastic League (UIL), schools may begin their UIL summer strength and conditioning and sports specific workouts next Monday. Districts are asked to monitor their local limitations and adhere to the rules set forth by their local governing body.
