FRISCO — Sophomore forward Aiyana Johnson has been named the Southland Player of the Week for her performance last week, per a release from the conference office on Monday. The Lee’s Summit, Missouri native earns her second weekly accolade of the 2019-20 season.

Johnson averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds on 58 percent shooting from the field in a pair of victories over UCA and UIW this week, leading the ’Jacks to a pair of victories to keep pace in the league standings. Her 13-points and nine rebound in just 22 minutes against UCA led the ’Jacks in a demolition of the nation’s 12th best scoring defense, hanging 102 points on the Sugar Bears. Johnson then turned in a double-double effort, her sixth of the season, against the Cardinals of UIW on Saturday, tallying 12 points and 10 rebounds.
