FRISCO — Defending Southland Conference football co-champion Central Arkansas is the choice of the league’s coaches and sports information directors to again finish atop the SLC standings this season as the Bears received 12 of a possible 22 first-place votes and 190 points to win the league again in the 2020 Southland Conference Football Preseason Poll that was announced Wednesday at the virtual Southland Football Media Day.

Stephen F. Austin, which finished 3-9 a year ago, including a 3-6 league mark, but was forced to vacate all three wins because of NCAA violations, officially posted an 0-9 record, including an 0-6 league record. The Lumberjacks are picked to finish eighth in the 11-team race with 60 points in the poll. The ‘Jacks were chosen head of Houston Baptist (59 points), Northwestern State (49) and Lamar (38).
