Nacogdoches Dragons — Ja'Khiryon Whitaker

John Krueger/The Daily Sentinel

Nacogdoches runner Ja’Khiryon Whitaker (1) cuts up field on an end around during action last week against Bryan Rudder for a gain of 12 yards. The Dragons are taking this week off in preparation for District 9-5A DII action starting next week.

Social media could very easily have meant the different between the Nacogdoches Dragons having not played a scrimmage or either game this season, as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc among high school players, coaches and programs during the 2020 football season.

The Dragons lost their scrimmage and opening football game, which were already delayed a month because of coronavirus changes made by the UIL this summer, then a subsequent positive test by a NHS football player a day before the Tyler Legacy scrimmage.
